The land of absinthe

Absinthe: a myth revived by Pays de l’Absinthe

In this cross-border area, the organisation "Pays de l'Absinthe" [Absinthe Country in English], unites the Val-de-Travers and the Pontarlier region around a common heritage, absinthe.

In addition to this common historic, cultural, industrial and social heritage, Pays de l'Absinthe is also the focus for the development of the wormwood plant itself which, in the Franco-Swiss Jura, is known for its exceptional fragrance.

As absinthe has now been legally reintroduced in both Switzerland and France, the objective is to promote both an original product and the region that gave birth to it.
